Abstract

This review provides detailed information about history of the new class of antihyperglycemic drugs, inhibitors of DPP-4 appearance. Here are described main types of clinical researches conducted in Russia, which includes: effect of DPP-4 inhibitors on cardiac function in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 in combination with ischemic heart disease; estimates of benefi ts from early incretin-based medications inclusion in diabetes mellitus type 2 control scheme; data on the effi cacy and safety of hypoglycemic therapy intensifi cation. The results of these studies and diabetes mellitus type 2 management optimization conclusions are presented.
