Point-of-care blood glucose testing: reliability and safety Report 2. Precision and analytical accuracy of glucose testing systems and their stability against interferences
AbstractAccuracy, a main measure of performance of glucose testing systems, is composed of trueness and precision. Accuracy depends on both system design and external interfering factors, which may contribute errors to the system results. These factors are usually classified as environmental, physiological, and chemical. In this article, I discuss the requirements for accuracy of glucose testing systems (including laboratory analyzers, point-of-care systems, and self-monitoring systems), effects of interferences, and potential solutions to minimize these effects and improve accuracy.
