The influence of diabetic polyneuropathy on the course of chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus type 2 and chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) are one of the most widespread diseases among the adult population in economically developed countries. The most common complication of DM type 2 is diabetic polyneuropathy of the lower limbs (DPN). The pathogenesis of DPN and CVI has a common link – a disturbance of microcirculation. At the Department of Endocrinology and internal diseases of Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy the influence of the DPN on the course of CVI was studied, the approaches to the treatment of the patients with concomitant diseases were defined.
