Patient with diagnosis «a diabetic polyneuropathy»: problems and ways of decision

Abstract

Currently, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) has adopted the scale of the global epidemic.

Diabetic polyneuropathy – defeat of peripheral nervous system – its most frequent complication.

Numerous studies have proved, that already at DM manifistaton in 3,5–7,5% of patients already there are clinical signs of diabetic neuropathy, and several years after start – almost at 50 %. It is caused by that the disease is following asymptomatic long time. It is known that the major pathogenetic factor of a diabetic polyneuropathy is hyperglycemia, which is result of insulin secretion defects, effects of insulin or a combination of these both factors.

Currently in the arsenal of a practical physician and there are drugs pathogenetic and symptomatic direction.

As an illustration of the problem of management of patient with diabetic polineyropatiya, we present medical history of the patient D., of 74 years old.
