Dear colleagues!

Starting in 2012, the editorial Board of the journal "Endocrinology: news, views, training was launched to promote "the development Program continuing medical education involving professional medical organizations in the Russian Federation". Our goal is to help increase the level of postgraduate education and quality medical care to the population of the population.

The final room 2014, is devoted to such important problems as diabetes and obesity. The topic was not chosen by chance. First, it is due to held on 14 November 2014 world day of struggle against diabetes mellitus, marked by numerous scientific publications and conferences. And second, because of the high relevance of the problem. Today in the world there are about 347 million people with diabetes. Russia takes 5th place in the world in the number of cases.

In low-and middle-income over 80% of deaths occur from diabetes and its complications. By 2030 diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death worldwide. It is expected that in the next 10 years, the total number of deaths from diabetes will increase by more than 50 %. Previously, this illness has struck mostly people of two age groups - middle-aged and children. Today diabetes, "younger": the incidence of diabetes type 2 among children is growing every year.

That is why this number was selected the most relevant materials written by leading domestic and foreign authors.

On the pages of this issue examined the pharmacokinetic properties of insulin degrades prolonged action, studied in the group of patients with diabetes mellitus; cardiac remodeling after a short-term very low calorie diet in patients with diabetes.

Also presented modern approaches in the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2, described the issues of quality and safety measurement of levels of glucose and ketones at the place of treatment and especially the combination therapy in obese patients. We have published analytical reviews devoted to diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperglycemia in a multi-hospital and modern approaches to improve the treatment of obesity and reproductive disorders in women.

And in order to escape from the detailed analysis of diabetes and obesity, experts presented an overview of clinical and hormonal characteristics and their relationship with volume of pituitary tumors in patients with acromegaly.

Articles for this number was prepared by the clinical specialists of Moscow, the Far East, Tyumen, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, Astrakhan, Samara, Voronezh, as well as Austria, Denmark and the Netherlands. I hope that in the new 2015, the journal will become more interesting and meaningful international platform for discussion of topical issues related to the development of endocrinology. The journal is open for intellectual discussions and exchange of views on a wide range of scientific and practical issues.

Express editorial Board and the Council, the authors and editorial staff sincere appreciation for the commitment to the profession active participation in the creation of the journal and the quality of publications. And invite you to more active collaboration of all colleagues from regions of Russia and countries near and far abroad.

I wish all the creators and readers of the magazine development, creative achievements in scientific research and the practice of medicine! On the threshold of New year 2015 please accept our best wishes for health and happiness!
