Replacement therapy of hypothyroidism: factors affecting the compensation
AbstractPrimary hypothyroidism is one of the most common endocrine diseases. Primary hypothyroidism prevalence in the general population changes from 3,8 to 4,6%. According to the Whickham survey annual incidence of hypothyroidism in the UK was 4,1 per 1000 women and 0,6 per 1000 men. In all forms of clinical hypothyroidism replacement therapy with thyroid hormones is necessary, and according to current theories, treatment of hypothyroidism involves monotherapy with levothyroxine (L-T4).
