An effective strategy for the treatment of obesity

Abstract

Actuality. The methods of pharmacotherapy of obesity is constantly being improved.

Objective. To study the eating behavior of obese patients, the use of Reduksin® (Sibutramine + MCC) and Reduksin® in combination with metformin in obese women.

Material and methods. We observed 82 obese women aged 18 to 49 years. All patients were recruited as part of the observation program Primavera. Statistical analysis was performed using the program Microsoft Excel, Statistica 7.0.

Results. There have been violations of the balance of the daily ration. Patients taught in the School of correction overweight. Treatment was most effective and safe drug Reduxine (sibutramine in combination with microcrystalline cellulose) at a dose of 10 mg for 52 patients аnd for 30 patients with diabetes during pregnancy Reduxine at a dose of 10 mg and metformin 500 mg, with a weekly increase of doses of 500 mg to 1500 mg. The study found that the average weight loss -8.9 ±1,6 kg (p<0.05) and 9.7±1,5 kg (p<0.05), reduction in waist circumference –11.4±1.8 cm (p<0.05) and 14.1 ±1.5 cm (p<0.05) respectively.

Conclusion. Deviations from the norms of consumption of nutrients and energy, most pronounced in patients with obesity. To optimize the eating behavior for the treatment of obesity requires drug Reduxine (Sibutramine + microcrystalline cellulose) 10 mg and combination Reduxine with metformin for women with gestational diabetes in history. Treatment demonstrated efficacy and safety.
