Dear readers!

The editorial Board of the journal "Endocrinology: news, opinion, training is pleased to welcome you to the latest 2015 edition, dedicated to the issues of endocrine profile, in particular, the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2. We are pleased to announce that from 1 December 2015, the journal is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher attestation Commission at the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation.

In addition to news of recent international studies on the pages of this issue published the original article of our foreign colleagues - a team of researchers led by neuroscience Professor, Dr. Douglas Zochodne dedicated to plasticity sensitive neurons during the development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. In their work they used laboratory rats to examine mechanisms that help to heal the damaged nerves. One of the participants of this mechanism, PTEN is a substance which under ordinary conditions prevents excessive cell growth. First time scientists were able to prove that PTEN is in the nerves, preventing them to properly recover. When scientists blocked the action of this substance, regeneration of nervous tissue is significantly improved.

Another worthy of interest the review authors from the school of medicine of new York University describes a new target for therapeutic effects in diabetes and its complications (signaling pathway of receptor of advanced glycation end products - RAGE). It summarizes the most relevant information about the biological role of the receptor products of nonenzymatic glycosylation in the pathogenesis of micro and macrovascular complications of diabetes, as well as the essential information is obtained in studies with modeling of obesity and complications of diabetes. The authors expressed the hope that the results of the study will help to identify a new class of therapeutic agents for the prevention of diabetes and its complications.
