Antidiabetic drug supply organization of patients with type 2 diabetes in statutory subjects of Russian Federation

AbstractDiabetes mellitus is becoming a rapidly spreading worldwide epidemic. Currently, the number of patients with diabetes in Russian Federation reaches 10 million people. Drug availability is one of the key elements to ensure effective treatment of diabetes mellitus. The analysis of federal and regional legal acts, territorial programs of state guarantees and drug procurement data showed the inefficiency of the existing regional system of drug provision in the current economic situation. The need to optimize public spending, as well as expanding the drug coverage, including provision of the treatment for type 2 diabetes will require the development and implementation of an action plan to implement the reform of the regional drug provision system.
