Trabecular bone score (TBS): new possibilities of bone quality evaluation and fracture risk assessment in patients with diabetes type 2

AbstractData from recent literature were analyzed. The subject of interest was evaluating bone quality and risk of fracture estimation in patient with type 2 diabetes. It is clear patients with DM2 have not low bone mineral density (BMD) and therefore we need another approach than in majority of postmenopausal woman.Trabecular bone score, the new instrument for bone examination during dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), could give us possibilities in this field without excessive diagnostic cost.
