Papillary thyroid microcarcinoma in 14-year-old girl with Graves disease
AbstractGrave's disease - is a systemic autoimmune disease that appears as a result by producing antibodies the thyroid hormone receptor, clinically evident lesions of the thyroid gland with the development of hyperthyroidism syndrome. The share of Grave's disease accounts for 10-15% of all thyroid diseases among patients younger than 18 years.The appearing processes malignant potential thyroid's cancer in Grave's disease are not clear, the prognosis of thyroid cancer with Grave's disease remains controversial.
In the described clinical case, detected cancer by girls with Graves' disease was the intraoperative finding. The patient had no family history of cancer, however, we can't exclude a genetic predisposition to cancer of the thyroid gland or the presence causing mutation cancer, the so-called «second hit», which occurred in thyroid cells by stimulating environment through the TSH receptor as a result of autoimmune process.
