The possibilities of clinical use of glibenclamide in the 21st century

AbstractGLibencLamide is a drug of the II generation of sulfonylureas and is one of the most popular and studied of gLucose-Lowering drugs, which is more than 60 years is used in many countries as a reLiabLe and time-tested means of therapy of diabetes of type 2. In experimentaL and cLinicaL studies, gLibencLamide not onLy is the standard for evaLuation of new gLucose-Lowering drugs and therapeutic approaches, but aLso demonstrates potentiaLLy usefuL additionaL properties. This review presents the traditionaL information of the drug and prospects for the use of gLibencLamide in cLinicaL practice.
