Possibilities of metabolic therapy in the treatment of micro-and macrovascular complications of diabetes mellitus: the role of taurine

Abstract

Authors of the review article analyzed the results of foreign and Russian research works to the study of the role of taurine in the pathogenesis of vascular complications of diabetes mellitus. The metabolic effects of taurine have been described in detail, as well as the experience of its application in the complex therapy of diabetic micro-and macroangiopathies.

Keywords:diabetes mellitus, insulin resistance, microangiopathy, macroangiopathy, taurine, oxidative stress
