Features of adaptive capacity and energy metabolism in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2

Abstract

The study of the processes of adaptation and characteristics of energy metabolism in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 can serve as a basis for determining their role in the pathogenesis of this disease and contribute to the development of new methods of treatment and prevention.

The aim of the study was to determine the level of adaptive capacity and state of the energy metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes.

The study involved 27 patients with type 2 diabetes (mean age 56,9 years) and disease duration from 1 year to 20 years. Served as a control group of 15 healthy volunteers, similar to the main group by age and sex.

Found that patients with type 2 diabetes is a reduction in adaptive abilities, which is based on violation of the energy metabolism of the body. Decompensated diabetes reduction of adaptation was more pronounced. For patients with diabetes were characterized by reduced levels of ATP, increased levels of ADP in the blood, as well as reducing the energy potential of the cells. Was characteristic of the original hypermetabolism and its paradoxical decrease after induced stress.
