Modern methods of diagnosis of the ophthalmic complications of acromegaly
AbstractAcromegaly is a rare disorder that can cause chiasmal syndrome. Compression of the optic chiasm due to the growth of pituitary adenoma leads to various visual problems manifesting mainly as bitemporal hemianopsia (loss of lateral vision in both eyes). Acromegaly patients need thorough ophthalmic examination which involves visual field test, dilated fundus examination, extraocular muscles motility and chromatic tests.
