Some physical and hormonal parallels in boys of puberty (on the model of the Republic of Dagestan)

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the indicators of physical development of boys (BMI) and their influence on the hormonal status that characterizes sexual development (levels of LH, FSH, testosterone) in 2 age groups. The first group consisted of boys of the early puberty period (103 boys) aged 11–13 years. The second group consisted of teenagers in the middle and end of puberty (177 teenagers) aged 14–17 years. In the first group of boys, LH and testosterone levels were significantly correlated with an increase in BMI. In adolescent boys of the second group, the most significant levels of LH, FSH, and testosterone reached BMI values >75 centiles.
