Insulin resistance – significance in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome

AbstractInsulin resistance – failure of the biological respond to insulin, carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism, as well as variation of the DNA synthesis, changes in cell and tissue differentiation and growth process. Insulin resistance detected in those patients with arterial hypertension, hyperuricemia, diabetes mellitus in 58, 63 and 84% of cases, respectively. It’s important for every practitioner to have a good understanding of pathogenesis and clinical aspects of insulin resistance. Influence on the mechanisms of insulin resistance lowering in cells and tissues on early stages prevents the development of metabolic syndrome and severe complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
