Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 syndrome: causal factors that make timely diagnosis difficult
AbstractMultiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome of the first type (MEN-1) is a genetically determined disease with an autosomal dominant type of inheritance, characterized by a tumor lesion of the parathyroid glands, pancreas and anterior pituitary gland. Skin manifestations in the form of neoplasms - lipomas, facial angiofibromas, collagenomas, which are formed before the manifestation of the clinical symptoms of the disease, can serve as harbingers of the MEN-1 syndrome. The peculiarity of the clinical case is an additional atypically located adenoma of the lower parathyroid glands (retrosternal space), detected six years after the onset of the disease.
