Abstract

According to current guidelines screening for cognitive impairment (CI) is necessary in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 over the age of 65 years. In this cross-sectional study we enrolled 135 patients with average age of 71.5 (68-77) and diabetes duration 13.0 (10-20) years. Recruitment performed between December 2019 and December 2020. All patients were screened with Mini-Mental State Exam and pass wide neuropsychological testing. MMSE showed that 35.6% of patients had mild CI 35.6 and 7.4% had demented state.
