Sarcopenia, daily activity and nutritional status of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a cohort study
AbstractSarcopenia is a condition characterized by progressive and generalized loss of skeletal muscle mass and function. In this crosssectional study we enrolled 151 patients with average age of 71 [68,0; 75,0]. Recruitment performed between December 2019 and March 2021. We used the guideline of the Russian Society of Gerontologists "Senile Asthenia". All patients were screened with Bartel and Lawton scales, MNA nutritional status assessment. Sarcopenia was diagnosed in 14.6% of patients, 1.3% had severe disease. Patients with sarcopenia had low levels of instrumental activity. This fact is a strong predictor of mortality and has a negative impact on the prognosis of human life and health.
