Analysis of gut microbiota in patients with onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract

In this study, we studied the features of the composition of the gut microbiota in patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In the course of the work, the predominance of Fermicutes over Bacteroidetes in patients with T2DM was revealed. Also, in patients with T2DM, the alpha diversity index significantly decreased. An important feature of the composition of the gut microbiota is the reduction of butyrate-producing bacteria, which are responsible for weight loss and prevent the development of diabetes mellitus.
