Link between cardiovascular risk and estradiol level in men

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate link between estradiol level and metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk factors in men. Patients in hyperestrogenic and control groups had comparable age, BMI and smoking status. Results of this study showed that hyperestrogenism in men is associated with increased levels of blood pressure, total cholesterol, insulin and uric acid. Hyperestrogenism increases incidence of arterial hypertension in a male patient by two times. The results of this study did not show significant differences in SCORE between groups with normal and increased level of estrogen.
