Personalized approach to the treatment of acromegaly
AbstractThe report reveals clinical and morphological patterns of secondary drug therapy (DT) with first-generation somatostatin analogues (SA1) and immunophenotypic factors of densely and sparsely granulated somatotroph adenomas, identified during immunohistochemical analysis (IHA) of fragments of removed tumor tissue. The performed analysis confirms the effectiveness of a personalized approach to secondary DT for acromegaly using IHA and the prognostic nature of the results of short-term (3-month) treatment of SA1 for judging the presence of a morphological subtype of somatotroph adenoma and assessing the prospects for further use of this group of drugs.
