Modern approaches to vaccinal prevention of a pneumococcal infection at adults and patients of risk groups

Abstract

Statistical data of morbidity and mortality of pneumococcal infections in elderly population and patients with diabetes mellitus and other comorbidities are discussed in the review. The recent recommendations and guidelines of pneumococcal vaccination in the world are described as well as the recommendations of the Russian experts advisory board. New possibilities of vaccination with Prevenar 13 vaccine, (registered in the Russian Federation) for adults 50 years + are also considered.

The article is based on the Resolution of Interdisciplinary Advisory Board “Modern approaches to vaccination in adults and at risk patients” from December, 8, 2012.
