Delayed puberty: patterns and gender characteristics

Abstract

The study is devoted to the analysis of the structure of delayed (DP) in adolescents. In the general structure constitutional delay of puberty (CDP) predominates – 56%. In the group of boys, CDP (65%) is the leading cause of DP and is significantly more common than in the group of girls (21%). Among girls, the main cause of DP is functional hypogonadism (37%), while the frequency of hypergonadotropic hypogonadism (31.5%) is higher compared to the group of boys (6.5%). The hereditary factor is more common in patients with transient forms of DP, while the contribution of heredity is comparable in groups with CDP and functional hypogonadism.
